Training Programs
Ascension Residency Program
As a family medicine practice, PrimeCare Health is committed to providing health services for life across all of the communities we serve. To ensure that future generations of doctors share this commitment, our West Town and Wicker Park centers serve as teaching and practice sites for the Ascension/SMEMC Family Medicine Residency Program. They provide doctors enrolled in an accredited three-year Family Medicine Residency with hands-on experience caring for a diverse patient population. Eight board-certified family practitioners oversee their work and serve as faculty physicians. Our medical residents provide the full range of medical services offered at every PrimeCare Health center.
Behavioral Health Program
In addition, PrimeCare Health provides training and professional opportunities for master’s and doctoral level behavioral health and healthcare administration students. Behavioral health students from some of Chicago’s most highly regarded programs complete a year-long externship at PrimeCare Health, performing behavioral health assessments, providing individual and group therapy, and collaborating with medical staff in supporting mutual patients.
Administrative Fellowship Program
PrimeCare Health is proud to be one of the first CHCs in the country to establish an Administrative Fellowship program for recent graduates of accredited master’s programs. Our 12-month program offers the fellow the opportunity to work directly with each of our six chiefs to engage in and lead a variety of organization-wide initiatives and projects. The fellow will receive broad-based exposure to healthcare delivery and operations management while working closely with all levels of staff. After the fellow completes their rotations, they utilize the skills they’ve learned and the projects they’ve worked on to present a capstone to key stakeholders. NIMAA Partnership
In 2022, PrimeCare Health began to partner with the National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement (NIMAA). NIMAA is a recognized medical assistant training program that has graciously allowed us to provide a valuable professional opportunity at our own health centers. If you or someone you know may be interested in becoming a Medical Assistant (MA), you all can apply to receive MA training at PrimeCare! The program offers an eight-month training program that combines hands-on clinical experience with an innovative online curriculum. The submission window is currently closed.
